Scholar-in-Residence Programs
Each year the shul hosts 4-6 Scholar-in-Residence programs that feature many of the most prominent Rabbis, scholars and educators from the modern Orthodox world. In the past, the shul has been honored to host Rabbi Saul Berman, Executive Director of Edah and Rabbi Kenneth Brander, Director of the Center for the Jewish Future at Yeshiva University. An important component of the Scholar in Residence program is our annual Shabbat T'Lamdeini program that celebrates outstanding female Torah scholarship.
Summer Beit Midrash
Each summer we are privileged to host this exciting program led by Rabbi Aryeh Klapper. Approximately 15 exceptional young men and women learn intensively in the shul beit midrash for six weeks during the summer and offer chavrutaot (learning partners) for the wider shul community. In addition, there are public lectures offered to the shul community, as well as a Shabbat with Rabbi Klapper as a Scholar-in-Residence.
Ma’ayan
A women’s learning program for women of all ages and who come from a wide range of backgrounds. Ma’ayan provides women with a setting for intensive study of traditional texts. The program was founded in 1992 by Rabbi Dr. Seth Farber and Debbie Kram. Classes are held in Brighton, Brookline, Newton and Sharon. For upcoming classes, news, events, and information, log onto maayan.org.
Young Israel of Sharon also offers a full range of Youth Programming.

Community Support Liaison, JF&CS
Hi, my name is Talia and I am a social worker from JF&CS, as well as a member here at Young Israel of Sharon. In my JF&CS role as Community Support Liaison, I work with synagogues to help connect their members with resources for themselves and their families. JF&CS offers resources that serve the community across the lifespan from infancy to end of life. Types of resources and support include but are not limited to financial assistance, mental health, case management, disability services, food insecurity, domestic abuse, aging support, and referrals to services. In addition to working with individuals and families, I work to facilitate meaningful and engaging programming for the communities I serve. Please reach out anytime. I would love to connect with you.
